The One-Dimensional Non-Homogeneous Wave Equation

Abstract

The well-known ideal wave equation is valid only for homogeneous media, where the wave propagation speed must be constant. In this paper, a modification of the wave equation was made so that it describes a disturbance propagating in a non-homogeneous medium. Two examples of this equation were worked out.
