Identification of Lineaments within Gitata Using Derivative, Euler Deconvolution and Centre for Exploration Targeting CET

A digitised aeromagnetic data was acquired and analysed to delineate geological lineaments and depths to the magnetic bodies within Gitata sheet (187) covering approximately an area of 55×55km2 bounded by latitude 9 0 N to 90 301 N and Longitude 7 0 30 1 E to 8 0 E in north central Nigeria within part of Federal Capital Territory, Kaduna and Nasarrawa state using High-Resolution Aeromagnetic Data (HRAD). First vertical derivative, 3D Euler deconvolution and the CET grid analysis of the acquired aeromagnetic data using Oasis Montaj and other geologic information within this area were employed in the structural classification. The HRAD was processed to identify anomalies of concern and findings of the HRAD's first vertical derivative and CETmaps revealed that the research area is highly faulted. From 3D Euler deconvolution, depths were divided and grouped at every 150 m and the result shows that the faults / fractures between the depths of 150 and 300 m dominate the study area. The outcome also demonstrates the prominent trending NE–SW and NW–SE structures. A critical visual inspection of the fault pattern indicated by the NE–SW trend alignment of many Euler solutions indicates that the study area has been seriously influenced by the NE–SW trend of the regional fault system.
